What time is it here?
The Creston Valley-Kootenay Lake area has one of the most peculiar time zones in Canada. Yahk, Creston and Crawford Bay observe Mountain Standard Time (MST) all year, similiar to most of the state of Arizona. Daylight Saving Time (DST) is not in use in these areas so clocks do not change here!
That means when Daylight Savings kicks in in March, the area syncs up with its western neighbours in Bonners Ferry, Spokane, Nelson, Kelowna, and Vancouver on the Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) zone.
Finally, in November, when everyone else "falls back", Creston then syncs up with our easter neighbours in Cranbrook, Missoula, Banff, and Calgary in the Mountain Daylight Time (MDT) zone.
Be sure to ask a local for the current time if you need to know. Or, throw caution to the wind and just take your time!
